Remulla asks public to refrain from going to Tagaytay City

Cavite Governor Jonvic Remulla on Tuesday appealed to the public to refrain from going to Tagaytay City even though it is already open for tourists.

"Iwasan muna natin kasi mataas ang COVID ngayon, lalo ngayon sa weather, mas mataas ang infection. So kung kaya niyong iwasan muna, umiwas muna kayo," Remulla told Super Radyo dzBB.

"Ang gusto ng mayor doon ay i-limit muna dahil baka magkaroon ng outbreak doon sa Tagaytay," Remulla added.

On September 6, Tagaytay City administrator Gregorio Monreal announced that tourists are allowed in the city provided that they follow the minimum COVID-19 health standards, including physical distancing and the wearing of face masks.

He said checkpoints at entry points to Tagaytay, which is under modified general community quarantine, would be maintained.

The Sky Ranch and the Praying Hands monument started to welcome tourists last Friday.

Visitors have to go through a temperature check upon entry. They also have to fill out contact tracing and health declaration forms.

Meanwhile, Joint Task Force COVID Shield Police Lieutenant General Guillermo Eleazar said that those who wish to go to Tagaytay City from Metro Manila and other provinces must still present a travel authority.

He said the national government has not changed its rule yet on the use of travel authority, which is a requirement if the travels are outside Metro Manila and outside their respective provinces. — Anna Felicia Bajo/BM, GMA News
