Philippine troops uncovered last Friday an improvised explosive device (IED) factory while on a combat clearing mission in Maguindanao.

Recovered from the said factory were one round 105mm unexploded ordnance, one round 60mm unexploded ordnance, several IED components (fuses, switches, blasting caps, shrapnel, and the like), and propaganda materials.

Troops immediately coordinated with the EOD team for proper dispositive action.

“The accomplishment is attributable to the peace-loving people of Ampatuan who continuously support us in our campaign against terrorism,” said Maj. Gen. Juvymax Uy, Joint Task Force Central commander.

Meanwhile, Lt. Gen. Corleto Vinluan, Jr., WestMinCom Commander, said “The terrorists continue to desperately sow terror due to their incapability to counter our operating troops, thus, I enjoin the public to remain vigilant and immediately report suspicious individuals and items in their vicinity.” —LBG, GMA News
