Beachgoers in Dagupan nabbed for drinking despite liquor ban

Authorities have arrested several individuals caught drinking at the Tondaligan Beach Park amid the liquor ban in Dagupan City, according to King Guevarra’s report on “24 Oras.”

“Ang protocol po diyan, pagkatapos nasita po ‘yung mga violators po, tu-turn over po ‘yan sa nearest PNP for proper disposition,” Rob Erfe-Mejia, Dagupan City POSO Chief, said.

On September 18, the city implemented the liquor ban anew due to the continuous increase of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases in the area.

Based on data from the Dagupan City Police, a total of 15 individuals have violated the liquor ban.

Meanwhile, the violators will be fined.

The Public Order and Safety Office have added more personnel on bicycles to monitor Tondaligan Beach Park.

“Mas malaki ang area na mako-cover nila sa pag ro-ronda nila,” Mejia said. — Joahna Lei Casilao/BM, GMA News
