Typhoon Quinta causes floods, power interruptions in Albay

Heavy rain and strong winds brought by Typhoon Quinta flooded and limited visibility in several parts of Albay on Monday.

According to Chino Gaston’s report on “24 Oras,” Legazpi City motorists could hardly see the road due to the heavy downpour.

Chest-high floods also submerged several houses in the province.

Power interruptions were meanwhile reported in Camalig as Quinta's intense winds and rain cut power lines.

In Ligao City, several houses made of light materials were destroyed by the typhoon.

On Sunday, Albay Governor Al Francis Bichara ordered Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils to implement their respective evacuation plans and to activate relief assistance teams in anticipation of Quinta's onslaught.

PAGASA earlier said Quinta would exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Tuesday morning. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/DVM, GMA News
