Provinces in eastern Luzon seaboard intensify preps for Super Typhoon Rolly

Provinces in the eastern seaboard of Luzon have intensified their preparations for the onslaught of Super Typhoon Rolly as of Sunday morning.

Super Radyo dzBB's Mark Makalalad reported that the supply of electricity in 27 barangays in Naga City, Camarines Sur has already been cut off to prevent possible fire incidents when power lines trip due to Rolly's strong winds.

The city's Public Safety Office and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management team have also joined forces to identify high-risk areas around the area, he added.

Around 33,000 families have already been evacuated from different barangays and towns in Camarines Sur.

Many of the city establishments have closed down already in anticipation of the typhoon.

While some establishments have their own generators, they still do not accept customers as they continue to watch out for inclement weather.

Forced evacuation was also implemented in Barangay Bagumbayan Sur, Naga City Sur due to the impact of Super Typhoon Rolly, according to Makalalad.

Several trees also fell in Barangay Mabolo, Naga City because of the strong winds brought about by the tropical cyclone.

Meanwhile, five municipalities in Aurora have also conducted preemptive evacuation as a precautionary measure against the wrath of Super Typhoon Rolly.

According to a report by Super Radyo dzBB's Allan Gatus, these municipalities are Dingalan, San Luis, Maria Aurora, Dipaculao, and Baler.

Preemptive evacuations started as early as last night, said Aurora's provincial disaster risk reduction and management office (PDRRMO).

In Dingalan town alone, almost 3,000 residents have already been evacuated.
