Entire Catanduanes barangay left homeless due to Rolly –local

According Gigmoto, Catanduanes local John Emmanuel Tayo, all his fellow townsfolk in Barangay Biong were left homeless by Super Typhoon Rolly.

In Emil Sumangil’s Tuesday report on “24 Oras,” Tayo explained how nothing was left standing in the barangay except for a few trees.

“Dito tayo sa coastal area, coastal park nitong barangay,” Tayo said. “Ang daming mga bahay dito pero ngayon halos, or lahat, lahat talaga, napatumba nitong si Bagyong Rolly.”

He added that the community was also having problems with their water and electricity supply. Residents had to wash and clean their belongings at a nearby river.

Despite the destruction, Catanduanes Governor Joseph Cua said transportation was slowly returning in the province.

“As far within Catanduanes, hindi pa passable. Pero going out of Catanduanes to mainland, nag-resume ngayon ang operation ng ferry boats at ang airport po, puwedeng mag landing ang eroplano,” Cua said.

However, the governor was unsure when the power would be restored.

“Eighty to 90 percent ang damage ng electric post. Kaya matagal kaming mawawalan ng kuryente kaya siguro kailangan namin ng tulong ng DOE,” Cua said. — DVM, GMA News
