The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) said Saturday it has energized several power lines in the provinces of Sorsogon and Albay through the utilization of Bac-Man Geothermal Power Plant.

As of 7:55 a.m., the NGCP said its Daraga-Bacman 230 kilovolt (kV) line was energized for islanding operations through the Bac-Man plant to supply power to the two Typhoon Rolly-hit Bicol provinces.

Likewise, the Daraga-Legazpi and Daraga-Sto.Domingo 69kV were energized at 9:18 a.m. and 10:18 a.m., respectively, extending power to parts of the Albay Power and Energy Corp. (APEC) franchise area.

“At 11:16 a.m., 11:46 a.m., and 11:49 a.m., respectively, the Daraga-Sorsogon, Sorsogon-Balogo, and Sorsogon-Bulan 69kV lines serving SORECO I and SORECO II were energized simultaneously,” the NGCP said.

“Subsequently, the Labo-Naga 230kV line 2 was also energized at 10:25 a.m.,” it said.

The NGCP advised that sources for generation capacity are limited when under islanding operations.

“Additional loading will depend on the available generation capacity, as well as readiness of the distribution lines,” it said. -MDM, GMA News
