Ulysses topples trees, electric posts, causes power outage in Camarines Norte

Typhoon Ulysses brought strong winds and heavy rains over Camarines Norte on Wednesday morning, toppling trees and causing a power outage.

In the municipality of Paracale, strong winds blew off the roof of a hotel.

Toppled trees obstructed roads. One tricycle was hit by one such tree, but its driver and passenger were unhurt.

Electric posts also fell in residential areas.

A landslide also occurred in Barangay Tugos also in Paracale, blocking the road.

Evacuation was already implemented in the municipality of Vinzons since the Vinzons River usually swells after heavy rainfall.

Meanwhile, in the municipality of Jose Panganiban, residents also felt the strong winds and heavy rains, as seen in the video posted on Facebook by Joshua del Pilar of the local government.

 

PAGASA said destructive winds and intense with at times torrential rainfall are expected over the northern portions of Catanduanes, Camarines Sur, and Camarines Norte until Wednesday evening.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 3 has been raised over Camarines Norte and other areas as of 11 a.m. on Wednesday.

At 10 a.m., Ulysses was located at 100 kilometers North of Virac, Catanduanes with maximum sustained winds of 125 km per hour and gustiness of up to 155 km/h.
