At least five people, including a toddler, were killed following a landslide in Banaue, Ifugao on Thursday.

Interviewed on Super Radyo dzBB, Ifugao Police Office provincial director Police Coronel David Mariano said the landslide, which happened at around 5 p.m. on Thursday, wiped out a house in Barangay View Point.

“Sisilong sila sa isang bahay sa gilid ng kalsada then nahulog ‘yong lupa sa taas. Tinamaan ‘yong bahay then nahulog more or less 100 meters na lalim,” Mariano said.

Among the bodies recovered was a three-year-old boy, he added.

Mariano said authorities are still checking if the victims were either residents or bypassers who sought shelter inside the house due to heavy rains and winds brought by Typhoon Ulysses.

He said search and rescue operations will resume on Saturday with more people believed to be under the debris.

He added that clearing operations are ongoing.—AOL, GMA News
