Some school buildings get cracks after earthquake in Surigao del Sur

Some school buildings in Surigao del Sur have been found to have suffered cracks after a Magnitude 6.0 earthquake hit the province on Monday.

Surigao Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office head Abel de Guzman, added that some multi-purpose halls and residential houses also sustained damage due to the earthquake.

“So far, based sa report natanggap natin… masasabi natin na mga minor damages ang naitala,” he said in an interview on Super Radyo dzBB.

Meanwhile, no casualties were reported as of Monday.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology on Monday morning said a magnitude 6.0 earthquake rocked San Agustin, Surigao del Sur.

The quake occurred at 6:37 a.m. Its epicenter was located at 08.64°N, 126.47°E - 029 km S 67° E of San Agustin.

The tectonic earthquake has a depth of focus of 33 kilometers.
