Bustos Dam gate remains open due to blockage

Despite its low-water level, the rubber gate of the Bustos Dam still cannot be closed as it is being blocked by tree trunks and logs that were washed into the dam after the onslaught of Typhoon Ulysses.

According to Pia Arcangel’s report on “24 Oras Weekend,” the Water Control Coordination Unit suspects that there was illegal logging in nearby mountains.

Meanwhile, the dam management was having trouble removing the blockages as it is avoiding damaging the rubber gate.

Due to this, clearing operations may take several weeks.
