Drug suspect who shot Mindoro cop in the head arrested

Police on Friday arrested the drug suspect who was able to escape after shooting a cop during an anti-illegal drugs operation in Roxas, Oriental Mindoro on Tuesday.

According to a police report, the 30-year-old suspect, identified as Jonas Basillo Galicia, was arrested at Sitio Lower Sipako in Barangay San Vicente at 12:25 p.m.

Barangay Chairman Rigor Sadiwa and the suspect’s family were present during the arrest.

On Tuesday, Galicia shot Police Senior Master Sergeant Rolly Castellano in the head, then escaped on a motorcycle  when he realized he was transacting with undercover police officers.

Castellano was in critical condition.

The suspect is now under the custody of the Roxas Municipal Police Station for documentation and proper disposition. — DVM, GMA News
