Supervision of Cotabato City to be transferred to BARMM on Dec. 15 -spokesperson

Supervision of Cotabato City will soon be transferred to the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), its Minister for the Interior and Local Government said.

BARMM spokesman and MILG Naguib Sinarimbo confirmed that Inter-Governmental Relations Body (IGRB) in its 5th meeting has agreed to undertake the turnover ceremony for Cotabato City on December 15, 2020.

He said the decision to transfer supervision was arrived at after winning a plebiscite in 2019. 

“We thank the President for keeping the spirit of the discussion last year in Malacanang to carry out the mandate of the Organic Law to transfer supervision over Cotabato City to the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao”, Sinarimbo said.

"We also express our gratitude to Sec. [Eduardo] Ano and Sec. [Sonny] Dominguez for promptly implementing the directive of the President to transfer Cotabato City,” he added.

The official added: “Now, the mandate of the people expressed in the plebiscite will be fulfilled.” -MDM, GMA News
