Filipinos flock to Tagaytay on Christmas Day

Tagaytay City came alive anew as families flocked to the tourist spot on Christmas Day.

However, according to Saleema Refran’s report on “24 Oras” on Friday, the tourists failed to observe the minimum COVID-19 health standards.

Authorities thus reminded sightseers that they needed to wear their face masks and face shields. They also needed to observe social distancing to prevent the further spread of the virus.

Some families also tried to sneak children into the city despite the local government’s ordinance which prohibited minors from going to public areas.

Those who were caught with minors were sent home by authorities.

This was the first Christmas to be spent by Filipinos amid lockdowns, massive loss of jobs, and the health crisis.

The virus has claimed over 9,000 lives in the Philippines with vaccines to be available on March 2021 at the earliest. — Angelica Garcia/DVM, GMA News
