Soldier shoots soldier dead in Zambo City

A soldier shot to death another soldier in a middle of a heated argument inside an Army camp in Zamboanga City.

"Unang Balita" reported Thursday that Technical Sargent Joseph Caturan of the 54th Engineering Brigade of the Philippine Army died after suspect Private First Class Herbert Antonio shot the victim twice in the head.

An initial investigation showed the incident took place in a heated argument while Caturan was confronting Antonio when the camp's elevated water reservoir was overflowing unattended.

Antonio was supposed to look after the reservoir, but failed to report for duty because he was drunk.

Caturan confronted Antonio and a heated argument ensued, prompting the suspect to shoot the victim.

Antonio surrendered to the police after the incident, but had made no comment on the incident.
