Laguna's most wanted nabbed for rape, carnapping

Operatives of the Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group 4A and the Sta. Cruz Police arrested the most wanted person in Laguna.

According to John Consulta’s report on “24 Oras” on Friday, Edilberto Balatian Jr. is accused of raping a 16-year-old girl on January 17, 2020.

Balatian was arrested by virtue of multiple warrants of arrest for rape.

Police said Balatian raped the victim twice.

“According to sa victim, isinama niya sa hotel and then pinag-take niya ng drug at alcohol at tsaka niya hinalay,” Sta. Cruz police chief Police Lieutenant Colonel Chit Gaoiran said.

Aside from two counts of rape, Balatian is also facing charges for carnapping and reckless imprudence resulting in homicide.

Meanwhile, the suspect denied all the allegations against him.

“Wala pong katotohanan po ‘yan,” Balatian said.

Meanwhile, a 23-year-old suspect was also arrested in a buy-bust operation in Laguna.

Seized from the suspect were several sachets of shabu and some cash.

Police also discovered that the suspect was also wanted for killing a certain Marvin Aguilar in Sta. Cruz, Manila.

The suspect will face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/DVM, GMA News
