Davao Region reports 3 cases of UK COVID-19 variant

Three individuals in the Davao Region tested positive for the UK COVID-19 variant, according to a report on GMA News TV Live on Sunday

Two of the patients were from Davao de Oro: a 33-year-old male from Compostela and a 54-year-old female from New Bataan.

The Department of Health Region 11 and the local government units concerned held a meeting on Sunday for their coordinated response.

Authorities have started conducting contact tracing to prevent the further spread of the disease.

Meanwhile, the DOH Central Visayas announced that 60 of the 70 samples it sent to the Philippine Genome Center for genomic sequencing last week have tested negative for the more infectious UK B.1.1.7 variant.

However, the remaining 10 samples had yet to be sequenced. — DVM, GMA News
