6 alleged private army members surrender in Maguindanao


Six alleged members of a private armed group in Maguindanao surrendered to the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Tuesday.

In a statement on Wednesday, PNP Chief Police General Debold Sinas identified them as Bobby Pananggalan, a former  barangay chairman of Barangay Indatuan in Kabuntalan, and his group members Ket Guiaman, Amirudin Talitay, Norodin Andikat, Panoy Cantero, and Tol Amilon.

According to PNP, they surrendered to PRO BAR Regional Director Police Brigadier General Samuel Rodriguez at the Camp Brigadier General Salipada K. Pendatun in Parang.

Among the firearms and ammunition that they surrendered were one Mini Uzi caliber 9mm, one M14 rifle, one homemade M79 grenade launcher, one homemade shotgun, one homemade sniper rifle, one magazine assembly for Mini Uzi caliber 9mm, one magazine assembly for M14 rifle, one magazine assembly for shotgun, 10 rounds of 9mm ammunition for Uzi, nine rounds of live ammunition for M14 rifle, two rounds of caliber 50 ammunition for sniper’s rifle, and one round of 40mm high explosive cartridge.

"This is part of our full-blast drive against elements that disturb the peace and order situation in Maguindanao, specifically partisan armed groups and loose firearms," Sinas said. — BM, GMA News
