Ex-student bludgeons Nueva Ecija teacher, sets him on fire –police

A former student allegedly clubbed a Sto. Domingo, Nueva Ecija teacher to death and set fire to the body, police said Tuesday.

According to Emil Sumangil's Tuesday report on "State of the Nation," authorities recovered Rolando Dela Cruz's scorched corpse that was dumped near the San Pascual Elementary School.

Investigators alleged that Dela Cruz, who was said to be intoxicated, cuffed his former student, Joebert Gamrot.

This infuriated Gamrot, who supposedly retaliated by bludgeoning Dela Cruz with a wooden club.

The suspect covered Dela Cruz's body with leaves and set it on fire.

Gamrot surrendered to police, while the victim's family has yet to issue a statement on the killing. —Consuelo Marquez/DVM, GMA News
