Calamba gov’t uses aerial drones vs health protocol violators

Calamba, Laguna's Public Order and Safety Office (POSO) has started using aerial drones to monitor COVID-19 health protocol violations amid the enhanced community quarantine imposed on the NCR Plus area.

According to John Consulta’s report on “24 Oras,” it was through drone surveillance that authorities discovered a resort which seemingly had guests making use of the pool.

Due to this, operatives of the Calamba POSO immediately visited the resort.

Upon verification of their identification cards, authorities found that the "guests" were actually relatives of the resort's caretaker.

“Kung ganon po naman ay hindi naman po natin pinagkakait dahil sila naman po ‘yung bantay doon at wala naman po tinatanggap na ibang customer,” a personnel said.

Meanwhile, a jeepney going to a resort in Barangay Pansol was blocked by authorities.

Aside from the jeepney being filled with passengers, there were also children among the individuals heading for the resort.

The Calamba Government advised the public to refrain from going out amid the enhanced community quarantine, and that holiday plans should be rescheduled.

Meanwhile, resorts were warned that violations of health protocols could result in their business licenses being revoked. — Joahna Lei Casilao/DVM, GMA News
