Authorities are holding two vehicles that were transporting workers in Cavite due to violation of public health protocols amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said on Thursday.

In a statement, PNP chief Police General Debold Sinas said the vehicles that were flagged down were carrying more than the passenger limit.

On April 12, an aluminum van driven by George Alabado was discovered transporting 14 employees from Carmona along Congressional Road.

The PNP said it is a violation of the guidelines set by the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Disease on minimum public health standard and physical distancing.

On April 14, an Isuzu Elf aluminum van driven by Mark Anthony Angaza was also held along Congressional Road.

During inspection, authorities discovered 15 construction workers, which, the PNP said, was a violation of the guidelines on passenger limit.

The van was transporting the construction workers from their residence to the construction site, according to the PNP.

Violation tickets were issued to the drivers while all passengers were advised to go home after securing their identities and photographs, PNP said.

The Isuzu Elf aluminum van was impounded for the failure of the driver to present any documents for the vehicle, it added.

"The PNP is strictly imposing health safety standards on public and private vehicles at all times to ensure the safety of the drivers and passengers as well to reduce contact, transmission, and spread of the virus," Sinas said. — BM, GMA News
