Woman who filed rape, extortion complaint vs. 11 cops shot dead in Cebu City

A woman who filed rape and extortion complaints against 11 police officers was shot dead in Cebu City on Monday, the Police Region Office 7 said on Tuesday.

In a statement, the police said Ritchie Nepomuceno was walking down N. Bacalso Avenue when two unidentified individuals on a motorcycle shot her and fled towards Ibabao in Barangay Quiot.

Nepomuceno was shot in the face. The Cebu City Ambulance Service 803 responded to the situation, but declared the victim dead.

Authorities will conduct follow-up operations, the PRO 7 said.

Police Major Alejandro Batobalonos, chief of PNP Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group-Visayas, said Nepomuceno filed the complaints against 11 police officers of the Sawang Calero Police last month.

Batobalonos told GMA News Online that an hour after the shooting of Nepomuceno, one of the accused cops took his own life.

“Isang oras lang ang pagitan nang nabaril ‘yung complainant, nag-suicide din itong pulis,” he said.

(“An hour after shooting of the complainant, the officer committed suicide.”)

Asked about if the two incidents were connected, Batobalonos said the police are still investigating. — BM, GMA News
