99-year-old retired teacher in Davao City gets COVID-19 vaccine

A 99-year-old retired teacher was among those who got vaccinated against COVID-19 in Davao City.

Tomasa Pedrido, who will turn 100 years old in December, fearlessly received a dose of Sinovac's CoronaVac vaccine in Calinan District, according to a report by John Ryan Calonia of Super Radyo Davao on Dobol B TV on Saturday.

Pedrido said she did not experience any adverse side effects after receiving the vaccine while she was at the monitoring area.

She thanked all those who helped her get the vaccine.

According to Pedrido's daughter Helen, her mother has comorbidities and takes maintenance medicines. Her doctor, however, gave her clearance for her to get vaccinated.

The Davao City Health Office said it is targeting to inoculate 120,000 senior citizens against COVID-19.

The city has a supply of Pfizer, AstraZeneca, and Sinovac COVID-19 vaccines.

The Philippines targets to vaccinate some 50 to 70 million Filipinos against COVID-19 this year. —KG, GMA News
