ON THE RUN FOR 10 MONTHS

Biñan cops finally arrest fugitive who allegedly killed girlfriend

After 10 months in hiding, police finally caught up with and arrested a fugitive who allegedly killed his girlfriend in a motel room in Biñan, Laguna.

According to Biñan Police Chief Liuentent Colonel Giovanni Martinez, it took a while for the police to locate the suspect Roscoe Alve as he often moved from one place to another, with tips saying Alve was spotted in Quezon City, in Bulacan, and finally in Valenzuela where he was arrested.

Alve and victim Maria Crisanta Magadiawas were seen checking into a motel room on July 25, 2020.

Alve was later seen leaving alone. The victim's corpse was later found in the motel room.

The victim's mother -- who remained unidentified in the report -- called for justice to be served.

"Pagdusahan niya 'yan. Hindi naman sa kamay ko aabutin 'yung kung ano mang kaparusahan sa kanya eh. Pinapasa-Diyos ko naman talaga eh, pero gusto ko magdusa siya kasi habambuhay lang siya kung makukulong siya, eh habambuhay wala akong anak," she said.

(He should suffer for what he did. It's not for me to punish him. I leave it up to God. But I want him to suffer because while he may be imprisoned for the rest of his life, I will no longer have a child for the rest of mine.)

For his part, Alve denied involvement in the killing and said he plans to clear his name.

"Wala akong ginawa diyan, tapos wala naman akong plinano... Gusto ko linisin muna 'yung pangalan ko," he said in the same report.

(I did not do anything, and I did not plan anything. I want to clear my name.)

The local police force said the investigation on the matter would continue, and they would be looking at other individuals who may have been involved. — Jon Viktor Cabuenas/DVM, GMA News
