Maskless Cagayan mayor goes dancing at event, tests positive for COVID-19

The mayor of Baggao, Cagayan who was caught on video dancing without a face mask at an event has tested positive for COVID-19.

According to Athena Imperial's report on "24 Oras" on Monday, Mayor Joan Dunuan is currently undergoing quarantine after testing positive for COVID-19 on Sunday.

Photos and videos of Dunuan not wearing a face mask at a gathering went viral on social media recently.

Dunuan, meanwhile, denied that she violated any health protocols, saying the photos were taken early this year.

"That was the time po na puwede na tayong magpapasok sa mga tourist destinations po natin kasi nasa GCQ na po tayo kaya we're allowed to have gatherings at 50%," she said.

"During that time, napansin siguro nila na tinanggal ko 'yong face mask ko, grinab na rin nila 'yong opportunity na picturan ako," she added.

Meanwhile, Cagayan Governor Manuel Mamba issued a show cause order against Dunuan.

"Palagi namang sinasabi ni mayor na 'Okay, okay po. Hindi po totoo 'yan.' Okay, hindi totoo and then lumabas 'yong mga video, lumabas 'yong mga picture. Eh hindi naman na siguro magsisinungaling 'yon," Mamba said.
