Davao del Sur Gov. Cagas dies of COVID-19 complications

Davao del Sur Governor Douglas Cagas passed away Thursday morning due to complications of COVID-19, his family said.

“It is with our deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of Governor Douglas "Dodo" Cagas this morning,  owing to COVID complications. He has joined his Creator in heaven,” the family said in a statement posted on the Facebook account of the provincial government.

“He was the loving husband of Congresswoman Didi and father to Vice Governor Marc Douglas. But not only that, he was also a brother, uncle, advisor and friend to many,” they added.

For the family, Cagas is a dedicated public servant whose life is an inspiration.

The family added that Governor Dodo has left many footprints in the province that will be remembered for generations.

The remains of Cagas were brought to Davao City for cremation.—Joviland Rita/AOL, GMA News
