OCTA: Dumaguete attack rate higher than NCR’s during surge

The OCTA Research group on Friday said the current average daily attack rate (ADAR) of Dumaguete City is higher compared to the ADAR of the National Capital Region (NCR) during its peak of surge.

According to Joseph Morong’s report on “24 Oras,” the latest OCTA report showed that the ADAR in Dumaguete was at 51.58 from June 4 to June 10.

“Very concerning ‘yung Dumaguete. ‘Yung average daily attack rate nila is 51. So relative to the population, this is very high. Kasi during the peak of the NCR,  umabot tayo ng mga 40 pero 100,000. So mataas din ‘yun,” Professor Guido David said.

(Dumaguete's case is very concerning. Their ADAR is 51, so relative to the population, this is very high, because during the peak of the NCR, we reached 40 per 100,000. This is also high.)

“What's concerning here is it hasn’t peaked yet, so it’s still on an upward trend,” he added.

The ADAR is the percentage of individuals who turn out positive for COVID-19 per 100,000 population who undergo the test.

OCTA previously said that areas with ADAR higher than 10 per 100,000 are classified by the Department of Health as high risk.

Meanwhile, the average number of COVID-19 cases in the city also surged by 280% from 18 to 70 per day.
