Fewer Tagaytay tourists seen on first weekend after Taal Volcano eruption

Days after Taal Volcano erupted, only a few tourists were seen in Tagaytay City in Cavite on Saturday.

Some cyclists from Silang, Cavite said they went to Tagaytay as was their usual routine on weekends, according to a report on News TV Live.

They went to a viewing area and took selfies with the volcano behind them.

Taal Volcano continued degassing on Saturday. The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) recorded 48 volcanic earthquakes and three phreatomagmatic eruptions in the past 24 hours. Alert Level 3 remains raised over the volcano.

A food vendor said usually there are many tourists arriving in Tagaytay City during weekends.

However on Saturday, there were just a few, thus sales were slow, she said.

Taal Volcano erupted on Thursday, giving rise to a kilometer-high phreatomagmatic plume. The Alert Level was raised by PHIVOLCS from 2 to 3 that day. —KG, GMA News
