The bodies of all fatalities in Sunday’s C-130 plane crash have been recovered and those wounded have been taken to the hospital, Sulu Governor Abdusakur Tan said Monday.

“‘Yung nangyari na crash kahapon, narecover na lahat ang mga namatay at saka mga wounded ay nadala na lahat sa hospital… Ang namatay ay nasa Zamboanga na at i-identify na lang kung sino-sino ‘yung namatay dahil maraming nasunog,” Tan said during the Tapatan sa Aristocrat virtual briefing.

(All of the bodies were recovered and all of those wounded were already brought to the hospital. Those who died were transported to Zamboanga. They will still be identified as most of them were burned.)

Data from the military showed that 50 individuals, including 47 government troops and three civilians, died in the incident. A total of 49 soldiers and four civilians were hurt and are now undergoing treatment in the hospital.

Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana already directed a full investigation into the incident. The said air asset, with tail number 5125, took off from Lumbia Airport in Cagayan De Oro City and was about to land in Jolo port in Sulu when it crashed around 11:30 a.m.

The military said some of the victims of the crash were new Philippine Army privates.

Tan said cash assistance have already been provided to the victims and their families. He also assured the military that any other form of assistance would be extended by the provincial government. — RSJ, GMA News
