By JOVILAND RITA,GMA News

Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong on Tuesday said that he ordered a halt to Philippine National Police and the Bureau of Fire Protection training in the city due to health protocol violations.

At the Laging Handa public briefing, Magalong said he asked PNP chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar and BFP chief Jose Embang Jr. to suspend all their training.

“Pinahinto ko, sabi ko sa kanya stop muna lahat ng training ng PNP dito sa siyudad ng Baguio dahil maraming violation ng minimum public health standards,” he said.

(I told him to stop all the training of the PNP here in Baguio City for the meantime because they have a lot of violations against the minimum public health standards.)

Aside from Eleazar, Magalong said he also told Embang to suspend their training because there was a transmission of COVID-19 in the training site.

According to Magalong, the COVID-19 cases in the city were surging, thus the city’s border controls would be strictly enforced.

He added that tourist arrivals in Baguio remained weak, just 10 percent of the pre-pandemic record, despite the city opening up last June. — DVM, GMA News
