P21.5M worth of marijuana plantation burned in Kalinga — PNP

A total of 107,500 marijuana plants (FGMP) worth P21.5 million were destroyed in an anti-illegal drugs operation in three areas in Kalinga on Tuesday, the Philippine National Police said.

In a statement issued Wednesday, PNP chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar said the clearing of three secret cannabis farms were done by joint personnel of the PNP and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

Eleazar said three cannabis farmers were discovered in  Barangay Loccong in Tinglayan, Kalinga.

At the first site with an estimated land area of 2,500 square meters, Eleazar said more or less 37,500 FMJP worth P7.5 million were uprooted and burned.

At the second site with 1,500 square meters  area, more or less 30,000  FGMJP worth P6 million were also destroyed.

Meanwhile, at the third site with 2,000 square meters area, Eleazar said more or less 40,000 FGMJP worth P8 million were also uprooted and burned.

However, no cultivator was apprehended during the operation, the PNP said.

Through the Intensified Cleanliness Policy program of the PNP, Eleazar assured the public that authorities will intensify the campaign against illegal drugs.

“ Ang mga impormasyon na inyong ipinapaabot sa aming tanggapan ay mahalaga at malaking tulong upang mas lalong mapabilis ang ating pagsagawa ng operasyon ng ating mga operatiba", he said.
