Gale warning raised in Bohol, small sea crafts barred from sailing

TAGBILARAN CITY-  The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) in Western Bohol suspended sailing of all small sea vessels in all ports in the western area of the province on Friday due to the gale warning issued by the state weather bureau.

Ensign Edzel Gonzaga, commander of the Coast Guard Western Bohol, issued a sea travel advisory prohibiting all watercraft with 250 gross tonnages and below to sail within the western coast of Bohol province.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said rough to very rough seas will be experienced over the seaboards of Luzon and the western and central seaboards of Visayas.

It also warned that sea travel is risky for small seacrafts over these waters due to the combined effects of tropical storm Fabian and the southwest monsoon (habagat).

Gonzaga said trips may resume once the storm signal has been lifted and the weather has cleared up. -- BAP, GMA News
