86 health workers in Ilocos Norte hospital positive for COVID-19

A total of 86 health workers at the Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center in Batac, Ilocos Norte have tested positive for COVID-19.

In a bulletin issued Monday afternoon, the hospital said the 86 health workers are under isolation.

 

Aside from the infected health workers, 116 patients positive for COVID-19 are currently admitted to the hospital.

Meanwhile, 37 other suspected COVID-19 patients and one probable case are also currently at the hospital, three of whom are battling a severe infection.

“All protocols were strictly followed during this admission,” the hospital said.

“Let’s all work together and help each other to prevent the spread of the disease,” it added.

Data from the Department of Health showed that all 35 intensive care unit beds and all 103 ward beds at the hospital were in use as of August 1.

Out of the 20 isolation beds, 13 or 65% were occupied while 81% or 21 of the 26 mechanical ventilators at the facility were in use.

The hospital posted a bed occupancy rate of 95.6%.

Meanwhile, Ilocos Norte has registered 9,002 COVID-19 cases as of August 2; 6,857 of whom have recovered, 92 have died, while 2,053 cases remain active.—AOL, GMA News
