Masbate province is considering lifting its ban on the entry of unvaccinated people if the national government will give the local government more supply of COVID-19 vaccines, an official said Friday.

At the Laging Handa public briefing, Aroroy, Masbate Mayor Arturo Virtucio said Masbate Governor Antonio Kho and other officials are still discussing if they will keep the policy.

“Yung solusyon ng governor namin, nag-request kami sa national government ng maraming vaccine para ma-address na itong problema. Maybe in the [following] days puwede na nating i-lift siguro,” he said.

On Wednesday, it was reported that over 300 passengers were stranded in Port of Pio Duran, Albay as they could not enter Masbate due to the restrictions against unvaccinated persons.

Virtucio said the provincial government already allowed the stranded passengers to return to Masbate. However, he said incoming passengers will still not be allowed to enter the province.  —KBK, GMA News
