20 persons rescued after boat capsizes off Zamboanga del Sur

A total of 20 persons belonging to the same clan were saved after their boat capsized off Pagadian City in Zamboanga del Sur.

According to a report from GTV's State of the Nation, the relatives, which are mostly children, came from Isla Puting Balas and were about to return to Labangan, a town in Zamboanga del Sur.

But locals there witnessed their boat capsized, prompting them to call authorities.

Staff of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management used jet skis and boats to rescue the family members.

Authorities said the boat capsized because it was overloaded.—Consuelo Marquez/LDF, GMA News
