Bohol hospital to accept only COVID-19 cases

TAGBILARAN CITY - The Governor Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital (GCGMH) will only accept COVID-19 patients due to the surge in cases in the island-province and the threat of the highly contagious Delta variant in the region.

"With the recent surge of COVID-19 cases in the province of Bohol and the alarming number of detected Delta variant in the region, GCGMH shall temporarily transition to "COVID PHASE - LEVEL 4" until September 16, 2021," the the hospital management said in its advisory posted on Thursday.

The medical facility shall only be catering to patients with COVID-19 related symptoms.

"All other patients shall be redirected to other hospitals thru the Emergency Operation Center of the Provincial Government,"  the advisory also said.

All elective surgical and OB-Gyne procedures and ambulatory services will be temporarily suspended during the period.

Further announcements will be provided based on the assessment by the COVID-19 Surge Emergency Response Team.

The GCGMH management also urged the public to get vaccinated to fight the disease.

Established in 1929, GCGMH is the province's only Level III health facility and  main COVID-19 referral hospital.

Earlier, the hospital said the COVID-19 ward and isolation rooms has reached full capacity. -- BAP, GMA News
