Strong winds caused by Jolina bring down tents in Eastern Samar


Strong winds brought by Severe Tropical Storm Jolina has toppled down tents in Borongan City, Eastern Samar.

According to YouScooper Patrick Alde, there is also no electricity in the area. Jolina first made landfall in the vicinity of Hernani, Eastern Samar at 10 p.m.

At present, Tropical Cyclone Wind (TWCS) Signal No. 2 is raised over the northern portion of Eastern Samar.

Meanwhile, strong winds and heavy rains prevailed over Barangay Pinamopoan in Capoocan, Leyte and Barangay Poblacion in Palanas, Masbate, on Tuesday morning, according to YouScoopers Benjie Andriano and BimBim Avenir.

TCWS No. 2 is currently raised over Masbate while TCWS No. 1 is raised over the northern portion of Leyte, including Capoocan.

As of 1 p.m., PAGASA said Jolina was estimated in the vicinity of Baleno, Masbate, with maximum sustained winds of 110 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 135 kph. It is moving west-northwestward at 15 kph.

PAGASA said Jolina may make another -- its sixth -- landfall in the vicinity of southeastern Quezon on Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning. It may then emerge over the West Philippine Sea before noon on Thursday. --Joahna Lei Casilao/KBK, GMA News
