Intel officer gunned down in Albay — PNP

An intelligence warrant officer was killed after unidentified suspects shot him in Daraga, Albay on Saturday, the Philippine National Police said Monday.

In a statement, PNP chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar said he ordered the Police Regional Office 5 to immediately resolve the killing of Police Staff Sergeant Allan Madelar of Guinobatan Municipal Police.

“Kasama dito ang pagsasagawa ng imbestigasyon upang matukoy ang motibo na magiging susi sa pagkakakilanlan ng mga taong nasa likod nito,” he said.

(This includes the conduct of investigation to determine the motive of the killing, which is the key to identify the perpetrators.)

The PNP said Madelar was gunned down by the perpetrators in Barangay Peñafrancia where he attended a birthday party.

Eleazar extended his condolences to the family of the cop while assuring that all assistance would be provided to them.
