Garcia, Pialago quit MMDA, to seek Congress seats in Eleksyon 2022

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) general manager Jojo Garcia on Friday resigned from his post as he intends to run as representative of Rizal province's 3rd District.

Garcia said he plans to file his certificate of candidacy on October 5.

"Magbibitaw na po ako bilang general manager ng MMDA, effective October 4, dahil may intensyon po akong tumakbo bilang kauna-unahang mambabatas ng ikatlong distrito ng Rizal, ang San Mateo po," Garcia said in a virtual press briefing.

(I will resign as general manager of MMDA, effective October 4, because I intend to run as the first lawmaker for the 3rd District of Rizal province, the San Mateo.)

"Hopefully po talaga, itong bagong tatahakin kong landas eh matulungan ko pa, makapagconcentrate tayo sa bayan ng San Mateo," Garcia added.

(Hopefully, I could help the town of San Mateo.)

Garcia said it would depend upon the Executive department as to who it would designate as his replacement at the MMDA.

Pialago

Meanwhile, MMDA spokesperson Assistant Secretary Celine Pialago also announced that she would leave the agency as she will run as party-list representative for the 2022 elections.

“I will run as a Representative for the Malasakit Movement Partylist. Under my banner, I will work for standard benefits of barangay representatives, kagawads, barangay tanod frontliners and barangay health workers,” she said.

Pialago vowed to work for the creation of health care centers in remote areas as well as providing better hazard benefits for medical workers.

Pialago said she would file her COC on October 6. —KBK, GMA News
