Ambuklao, Binga dams open one gate each

The Ambuklao and Binga dams in Benguet opened one gate each on Monday, PAGASA said.

At 6 a.m., both dams had one gate open each at 0.5 meters.

Ambuklao Dam's reservoir water level (RWL) at 6 a.m. was at 751.62 meters, nearing the 752-meter normal high water level (NHWL).

Binga Dam meanwhile had its RWL at 571.94 meters, a few meters away from the NHWL of 575 meters.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 was hoisted over Benguet on Monday as Tropical Storm Maring (international name: Kompasu) heads toward Luzon Strait, PAGASA said in its 8 a.m. bulletin.

On Sunday, Magat Dam in Isabela and Ifugao released water at 3 p.m. through one gate open at one meter, in anticipation of heavy rains from Maring. —KG, GMA News
