Cop caught on video beating his wife

A policeman in Cagayan de Oro City has been caught on video assaulting his wife, according to a report on "24 Oras" on Tuesday.

In the viral video, the man—an active member of the Philippine National Police —could be seen hitting his wife, grabbing her face and shaking her violently, and screaming at her. A child can also be heard crying.

Authorities said the police officer tried to use jealousy as an excuse for his domestic abuse. He was also apparently drunk.

The man, who is currently in the custody of the police, declined to comment.

"If you are subjected to physical, motional, psychological or financial violence, go to the police so that we can help you," Police Station 7 Bulua, Cagayan de Oro City deputy commander Police Lieutenant Marycar Valmores said in Filipino. — Ma. Angelica Garcia/BM, GMA News
