Wife grieves loss of husband to landslide during Maring onslaught

A woman who lost her husband due to a landslide following the onslaught of severe tropical storm Maring in Baguio City is still in shock after the tragedy.

According to a report on "24 Oras" on Tuesday, Mariejoe Ocampo still cannot believe that she lost her husband Alfredo in a blink of an eye.

"Iniwan ko lang sandali, mawawala ang asawa ko. Ano ako? Para saan ang silbi ng buhay 'pag ganoon?" Mariejoe said.

Mariejoe could not help but pour out her grief after authorities confirmed that they already found her husband's body.

Authorities said the landslide occurred at Reyes Compound in Barangay Dominican-Mirador.

Mariejo, who injured her foot, said they were outside their house when the landslide happened.

Her grandchild and niece are still missing.

"Pinagdadasal ko na sana may himala, na buhay siya kahit ganiyan ang nangyari sa bahay," the child's mother said.

At least nine people were reported dead, while 11 were missing following the onslaught of Maring.—Ma. Angelica Garcia/LDF, GMA News
