Siquijor Governor Zaldy Villa assured his constituents on Saturday that the local government unit was ready to provide necessary assistance during the implementation of Alert Level 3 for COVID-19 response.

Malacañang earlier announced that the island province was placed under Alert Level 3 from October 20 to 31.

Under Alert Level 3, several establishments will be allowed to operate at 30% indoor venue capacity only for fully vaccinated individuals and 50% outdoor venue capacity, provided that all employees are fully vaccinated.

“Actually we are happy that our province is liquid province – mayroon kaming pondo para sa mga food packs, mayroon kaming pondo para sa mga medisina,” Villa said at the Laging Handa briefing.

Villa underscored that the provincial government could not be complacent even as the COVID-19 cases in the province decreased.

“Kahit na bumaba ang kaso ng COVID-19, hindi kami nagiging complacent, mas determinado siguruhin na mabigyan nang karagdagang proteksiyon ang aming mga residente sa isla,” he said.

(Even if the cases went down, we are not being complacent. We are more determined to ensure that our residents are given more protection.)

He said granular lockdowns were implemented in areas with symptomatic cases.

Siquijor posted 48 new cases on Friday, bringing the total tally to 2,504, according to the Department of Health. Active cases and deaths stood at 163 and nine, respectively. — VBL, GMA News
