Baste Duterte withdraws candidacy for Davao City vice mayor

Davao City Vice Mayor Sebastian "Baste" Duterte withdrew his candidacy for reelection.

In an official statement posted on his Facebook page Tuesday, Duterte said he nominated Davao City Councilor Melchor Quitain Jr. as his substitute.

"I am deeply grateful to the Dabawenyos for the support they have given me all this time," he said, noting that he has no other details to share at the moment.

President Rodrigo Duterte's son Baste filed his certificate of candidacy for reelection in Eleksyon 2022 on October 3 while Quitain filed his COC for his third term as Davao City councilor on October 2.—KG/AOL, GMA News
