Pacquiao arrives in Yolanda-stricken Samar to spend night in tent

Filipino boxing champ and Sarangani Rep. Emmanuel "Manny" Pacquiao arrived in Super Typhoon Yolanda-stricken Samar province Saturday afternoon, vowing to sleep overnight in a tent to show solidarity with the typhoon's survivors.

Pacquiao arrived at Guiuan town in Eastern Samar, where Yolanda first made landfall last Nov. 8, according to a report by radio dzBB's Allan Gatus.

Residents of Yolanda-affected areas had called on Pacquiao to visit and help. The boxing champion obliged, promising to visit after his fight with Brandon Rios in Macau last weekend.

“Excited na ako makatulong sa inyo kahit papaano at makapag-share din ako ng encouraging words para sa inyong buhay at Word of God,” he said on Friday

Pacquiao is expected to spend Sunday visiting other areas affected by Yolanda.
