Traveler from Philippines among 14 new COVID-19 cases in New Zealand

A 30-year-old woman who traveled from the Philippines was among the 14 new coronavirus disease cases in New Zealand, its Ministry of Health said on Thursday.

In a statement, New Zealand's Ministry of Health said the woman arrived in their country on August 8. Her nationality was not disclosed.

She is now in a managed isolation at a hotel, where she tested positive at around the third day of her stay.

New Zealand also confirmed 13 new COVID-19 cases, which were all in Auckland. It brought the total number of active cases to 36.

This brings New Zealand's total number of confirmed cases to 1,238, which it reported to the World Health Organization.

Meanwhile, as of August 12, the Philippines’ COVID-19 tally jumped to 143,749 cases after the Department of Health (DOH) announced 4,444 new infections. -MDM, GMA News
