Global COVID-19 cases near 30-M mark, death toll at 935,010

More than 29.67 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus globally and 935,010? have died, according to a Reuters tally.

Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and territories since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019.

The Philippines moved up a notch to 21st place with 269,407 cases with death toll at 4,663.

The United States remains the country with the highest number of COVID-19 cases with 6,609,427 and 195,724 deaths followed by India with 5,020,359 and 82,066 deaths while Brazil remains in third place with 4,382,263 cases and 133,119 deaths.

The rest of the countries that comprise the ten countries with the most number of cases are: 

  • Russia - 1,079,519 cases and 18,917 deaths         
  • Peru - 738,020 cases and 30,927 deaths

  • Mexico - 676,487 cases and 71,678 deaths         
  • South Africa - 653,444 cases and 15,641 deaths         
  • Spain - 614,360 cases and 30,004 deaths
