Worldwide coronavirus cases reach 33.38M, deaths surpass 1 million —Reuters tally

More than 33.38 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus globally and 1,001,041 have died, according to a Reuters tally.
   
Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and territories since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019.

The US leads in the number of infections with 7,176,155 cases and 205,132 deaths.

It was followed by:

  • India: 6,145,291 cases and 96,318 deaths

  • Brazil: 4,745,464 cases and 142,058 deaths
  • Russia: 1,159,573 cases and 20,385 deaths
  • Colombia: 818,203 cases and 25,641 deaths
