Worldwide COVID-19 cases cross 40M, death toll at 1.1M - Reuters


More than 40.06 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus globally and 1,113,218 have died, according to a Reuters tally.

Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and territories since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019.

The United States have the most number of cases with 8,182,184 and total deaths at 219, 666 while India places second with 7,550,273 cases and 114,610 deaths and Brazil is in third place with 5,235,344 cases and 153,905 deaths.

The Philippines has recorded a total of 359,169 cases and 6,675 deaths as of Monday. —Reuters
