Worldwide coronavirus cases cross 79.85M, death toll at 1,752,116 —Reuters tally

More than 79.85 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus globally and 1,752,116 have died, according to a Reuters tally.

Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and territories since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019.

The US leads with 18,691,340 cases and 330,311 deaths.

It was followed by:

• India: 10,169,118 cases and 147,343 deaths
• Brazil: 7,448,560 cases and 190,488 deaths

• France: 2,550,864 cases and 62,573 deaths

The Philippines is 29th on the list with 469,005 cases and 9,067 deaths. —Reuters
